Des Miller (they/she)Author Des Miller (they/she) was once a library page and infant/toddler teacher, and now writes stories for kids.
As a child, Des was often unable to speak due to Selective/Situational Mutism. After a former English teacher adopted them from foster-care, Des soon found an outlet in the written word. Keeping the writerly family tradition alive, their husband is their most trusted critique partner, and their kiddo is always happy to let them know when their work is way too boring. The cat and parakeet also chime in. Des loves learning about the polyvagal theory and restorative justice, watching terrible movies with her husband, and being a proud flattie after an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis. After spending a few glorious years in the Seattle area, Des returned home to Massachusetts where they explore old cemeteries and delight in the wild plants growing in their yard. |
