Dr. Laurel Yourke
Dr. Laurel Yourke taught literature and creative writing through UW-Madison at School of the Arts, Write by the Lake, Weekend with Your Novel, Writer’s Institute, Elderhostel, and on interactive television.
In 1997 Yourke received a UW—Madison Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, and in 1999, the Council of Wisconsin Writers Award for Encouragement of Wisconsin Writers.
Laurel edited countless manuscripts through the years, as well. She loves coaching writers and currently leads three critique groups plus several weekend and week-long workshops.
Her publications include Take Your Characters to Dinner, a creative writing text, and Waiting for Beethoven, a poetry chapbook. Her latest publication's book covers are listed on TPA's Home page, "BEYOND THE FIRST DRAFT: Deep Novel Revision" Book and Workbook, and are must-haves for writers!
